I have to be very candid: we are extremely disappointed with this birdhouse. Unfortunately, despite its attractive appearance, we have found it to be poorly designed and very impractical for its intended purpose. We have had several birdhouses at our estate over the past couple of decades, and we have never experienced the problems we are experiencing with this one. The birds have always used them successfully, and the feeders have been functional and easy to maintain. There are several significant issues with this birdhouse: 1. It does not properly fit a 4” x 4” post as advertised. This was one of the reasons we purchased it, and the fact that it does not fit as represented is extremely disappointing. 2. The opening for adding bird food is far too small. You have approximately a 1-inch opening through which we are expected to pour approximately 5 pounds of bird food. This is extremely inconvenient and can take 5–10 minutes just to fill the feeder. 3. There is no adequate drainage. This is a major problem here in Florida, where we regularly experience heavy rain. Water gets into the bottom of the birdhouse and remains there, resulting in standing water, mildew, and mold. That creates a sanitation and potential health concern when we have to reach into the feeder to add food. 4. The opening at the top is only approximately 1¼ inches, which again makes adding approximately 5 pounds of bird food unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. 5. Per our order and photos exchanged with your company the wrong color birdhouse was sent to us. Quite honestly, while the birdhouse may look attractive, it is not functional for its intended purpose. We are not happy with this purchase at all. We have owned birdhouses that cost considerably more than this one, and we purchased yours with the expectation that the construction and functionality would be superior. Unfortunately, our experience has been exactly the opposite. At this point, we feel the product was not designed with practical use, maintenance, Florida weather conditions, or the customer’s experience in mind. We are extremely disappointed and would appreciate knowing what you intend to do to resolve these issues. We purchased this in good faith based on how the product was advertised, and we expected considerably more from it.
